NASU STRIKES: Union Begins Nationwide Indefinite Strike

Non Academic Staff of Nigerian Universities (NASU) yesterday commenced an indefinite
strike to press home their demand for better welfare and protest the state of affairs in
 Nigerian Universities.
Chairman, NASU, University of Ibadan chapter,Olusola Cole Fatoki, who confirmed the development to newsmen yesterday, said the strike was a national one.

He said NASU had earlier given indication of the strike during the week, adding that it gave the Federal Government up till yesterday before embarking on the industrial action.

UI NASU, led by Fatoki, were seen monitoring the take-off of the strike at the Institution.

Fatoki stated that although the Institution had paid his colleagues August and September salaries, the issues leading to the strike were beyond the Institution and payment of salaries as they revolve round the implementation of agreement that the Federal Government signed with workers in public Universities.
