A tanker exploded in the early hours of Tuesday, October 8 2013 at a gas plant in the Lekki area of Lagos, according to reports.
According to reports, the fire outbreak was reportedly started by suspected vandals at about 5 a.m who were at the plant located around a residential estate at Sangotedo, along Ajah road,Lagos.

Addressing newsmen, the spokesperson for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye told Channels Television that three people were severely burned in the blaze and were rushed to hospital. The identity of the victims is yet to be established.

According to the NEMA official, the Lagos State Fire Service was able to contain the fire before it spread, but the stricken tanker was badly damaged while other vehicles parked nearby suffered minor damage.

The suspected vandals had gained access into the gas plant’s premises after they broke through its rear fence.
