Sex:How frequent is appropriate?-For Married Couples Only

For most young couples, having sex as often as they should is not a problem because, the passion and sexual interest in each other is driven by spontaneity. However, as the marriage grows older and a couple’s life settle into routines, interest in the bedroom may wane.

How often do you make love with your wife? Mr. AA told Hallmark, “When we got married 19 years ago, we made love almost every day but today, we now make love twice a month.” His experience may not be different from many other couples. For a healthy sex life, couples need to hit the sack as often as possible. Experts recommend that couples should have sexual intercourse three times a week.
“A couple should have sexual intercourse three times a week, especially if they are trying to conceive,” says a gynaecologist in Lagos, Dr Joseph Akinde.
In some cases however, having sex as often as thrice a week may not only be inconvenient but unadvisable. Such women include those with a history of miscarriages, women in the early stage of pregnancy and the latter stage of pregnancy.
“Sexual intercourse may not be advisable in the first three months, particularly 1-13weeks, and from 36 week to time of delivery. “She (pregnant woman) may be too weak to go through the rigours of sex. After 36 weeks, she may also open to infections,” Dr Akinde revealed.
