Man stabs alleged homosexual boss to death

A 22-year-old man, Eji Emmanuel, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police
Command for the alleged murder of a 39-year-old trader, Sylvanus Okoye.
According to the police, the suspect stabbed the deceased to death at his home on 
Ezemegbu Drive, Okota in August.
The suspect, however, explained that he killed the deceased in self-defence.
He alleged that on the day of the incident, Okoye had attempted to rape him.

UPDATES: ASUU plans to end strike next year – UNILAG faction

According to a faction of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in the University of Lagos (UNILAG), the academic body plans to continue the ongoing strike till next year.
The faction reportedly said yesterday that ASUU had no plans to end the strike before January 2014.
The group, however went on to say that the plans of ASUU must not succeed as the four-month-old industrial action must be brought to an end this week.

Gunmen Invade Nigerian Hospitals, Demand New Born Babies in Ado-Ekiti

Five gunmen, suspected to be ritualists on Sunday invaded the government hospital in Ado-Ekiti, demanding for new born babies.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the gunmen who were said to be numbering about five, arrived at the hospital at about 1:00 a.m. demanding for a day old babies, and beating up staff who could not give satisfactory answer. A senior health officer, who pleaded anonymity, said that the armed men invaded the hospital located along Irona area at about 1:00 a.m. and suddenly began molesting medical officials on night duty.
